Products of Random Matrices With Dirichlet Densities
Arunava Mukherjea
4:15pm-5:05pm
PHY 118

Abstract

A random matrix is a matrix where each entry is a random variable (that is, a measurable function). A typical problem for products of random matrices with a limit (in some sense) is to identify the distribution of the limit matrix $$Y$$ (that is, the measure $$P$$ in the space of matrices given by $$P(B)=\Pr(Y\in B)$$). An easily understood old (but open) problem of this type that involves Gamma and Dirichlet (generalized Beta) densities will be discussed. The talk is guaranteed to be short.
