Departmental Scholarships

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics offers six scholarships for students who meet the criteria listed below.

DEADLINE TO APPLY: OCTOBER 23, 2017 AT 5:00PM

Undergraduate

Dan Samitas Scholarship in Mathematics — Award Amount: Varies

  • Senior in Mathematics planning to pursue graduate work in Mathematics at USF
  • High academic achievement in Mathematics
  • 3.0 GPA or above

Dane K. Harmon Memorial Scholarship — Award Amount: Varies

  • Full-time, currently enrolled undergraduate students in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences on the Tampa campus
  • Scholarship based on both merit and need
  • FAFSA required to be eligible
  • 3.0 GPA or above

Math Scholarships Operating Fund — Award Amount: Varies

  • Mathematics major
  • 3.0 GPA or above

R. Kent Nagle Endowed Memorial Scholarship — Award Amount: Varies

  • Undergraduate Mathematics major
  • 3.0 GPA or above

Graduate

Dr. A.N.V. Rao Endowed Memorial Scholarship — Award Amount: Varies

  • Full or part-time graduate student enrolled on the Tampa campus in the College of Arts and Sciences
  • Students pursuing studies in Statistics
  • Good academic standing (minimum GPA of 3.2)
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • FAFSA required to be eligible

Math Scholarships Operating Fund — Award Amount: Varies

  • Mathematics major
  • 3.0 GPA or above

M.V. Johns Jr. Scholarship for Graduate Study in Statistics — Award Amount: Varies

  • Full or part-time graduate students majoring in Statistics in the College of Arts & Sciences on the Tampa campus
  • 3.0 GPA or above

How to apply:

Please review the requirements for each scholarship. Once you have done so, you may complete the scholarship application, found here.

  • Complete all requested information on the application.
  • Prepare a Personal Statement — 500 words or fewer discussing your career goals, how this scholarship will benefit your education, and your financial need.
  • Prepare a Resumé — 1 page highlighting your academic achievements (directly related groups/organizations, awards, certificates/licensure, publications, conference attendance, etc.).
  • Provide at least one (but no more than three) letter(s) from your former Mathematics or Statistics instructor(s).
  • Letter(s) of recommendation can be sent directly by the faculty member to .
  • Compile and submit all required documents (application, personal statement, and Resumé) to .

**Incomplete submissions will not be considered.**
